Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How is the Pursuit Ergonomic Chair different from other chairs by UPLIFT Desk?

We made the Pursuit to provide intuitive adjustments so you don't have to manually adjust your chair as much throughout the day. You'll get a fabric seat with a mesh back on the Pursuit, which is the ideal combo of support and breathability if you work in a warm office. The Pursuit also comes in two color options, so it matches more styles of decor. Still have questions? Check out our chair comparison chart for a quick look at all of the features!

  2. Can I order this without the headrest?

No, the Pursuit is only available with a headrest, which cannot be removed.

  3. How does this compare to the Ergohuman?

The Ergohuman and UPLIFT Pursuit are very similar in the adjustments they offer. The UPLIFT Pursuit edges out the Ergohuman in the affordability category.

  4. Does the chair come in leather?

The Pursuit is only available with a mesh back and fabric seat.

  5. Does the Pursuit come in any other colors?

At this time, black and white color options are available for the Pursuit.

  6. Why is this cheaper than other chairs?

We manufacture the Pursuit chair, so we are able to offer it at a better price. In addition, the adjustments have a manually-controlled notch design, which provide durable adjustments at a more economical price point.

  7. How do you adjust the arms?

The arms can be raised or lowered by lifting up on the front of the armpad. The arms will lock into place once you reach the desired height and release the front of the armpad. You can also rotate the arm pads toward or away from your body.

  8. Is the backrest height adjustable?

Yes, the back of the Pursuit can be raised or lowered. Just push forward on the back of the chair until you feel the back unlock. Then raise or lower the back to your desired height and release to lock the back in place.

  9. Where can I sit in one of these chairs?

Our showroom is located in Austin, TX. Come on down to try out the UPLIFT Pursuit Chair in person.

  10. Is the seat depth adjustable?

No, you cannot adjust the depth of the seat.

  11. What do you mean by "usable seat depth" in the specifications table?

The backrest of the chair sits slightly forward making it so you cannot sit on the back portion of the seat that juts below the backrest. This still leaves you with a seat depth of 18 inches, which will fit most of the population.

  12. I need a chair with storage. Does the Pursuit meet my needs?

The Pursuit is one of the only chairs on the market with organization built-in. The compartment located under the seat pan can be used to store small items.

  13. Does this chair come in additional sizes?

At this time no, but we are working on expanding our chair line in the future.

  14. Can I order the Pursuit with different casters?

In order to keep the price down, the UPLIFT Pursuit is only offered with standard, dual-wheel casters.

  15. Can the arms be moved out of the way?

The arms can only be raised or lowered, they cannot be moved out of the way.

  16. Are the armrests removable?

    The armrests are not removable.

  17. How adjustable is this chair?

The Pursuit is highly adjustable! You can adjust the seat height, armrest height, armpad angle, headrest height, back height, lumbar depth, and recline tension.

  18. What is the chair height range?

The seat can be adjusted between 17.75" and 21" high to support a wide variety of users.

All The Bells and Whistles but Lacks the Premium Feel

Posted by NK on Apr 19th 2018

This is an excellent chair - after doing a lot of research and reading I settled on ordering this to pair with my desk at home. It has most or all of the bells and whistles that the Herman Millers and Steelcases have for 1/3 the price. There's almost nothing on this chair that's adjustable - it lacks forward tilt and seat depth options, but seat depth can be indirectly adjusted using the back height and lumbar position, and the chair is plenty comfortable to sit forward in without the tilt.

But, if you're like me and wondering about the "catch", or why this chair is so much cheaper than similarly equipped products, it's because it lacks that overall premium feel. The images don't show it well, but the chair is almost entirely (very) hard plastic, much like the material a modern playground slide is made from.

In the luxury brands' chairs, nearly everything is designed to be adjusted while seated using all kinds of clever engineering, but many of the adjustments here require the user to stand up and fiddle with for a moment. The back height, for example, requires the user to stand up and push the back forward off of a little latch, slide it up or down as needed, and then release for the latch to snap in again. The Aeron I used to have at work, you simply reach behind you and push the back up a click or two.

Still, it's a perfectly good chair with all the high-end bells and whistles and doesn't require a small mortgage to afford, and besides the plastic has a pretty modern, sleek design. I would definitely recommend the chair to most anyone, especially at this price point.

    Very Comfortable Chair

Posted by IntLogic on Apr 14th 2018

It's taken me quite a while to find a chair for my home office on par with the expensive, ergonomic chair provided at my job. Though I feel this chair is a bit overpriced, I was glad to get a small discount when grouping it with the Uplift Desk I ordered. I placed my order on a Sunday, it shipped Monday afternoon and was delivered by Thursday afternoon; very expedient for free shipping! And although the packaging looked like it'd been to the ends of the earth, the chair itself was unscathed and beautiful. I chose the white version to complement the white Uplift desk I purchased, and couldn't be happier with the overall aesthetic.

It's amazingly comfortable, and the recline tension adjustment works perfectly! I unpacked the chair after setting up the desk late one night, reclined back -- using the chair's box as a leg rest, and woke up a few hours later. I had to force myself to go to bed instead of turning off just turning off the lights and going back to sleep. I also appreciate the swiveling arms (a very hard-to-find feature) and comfortable headrest, as well as the adjustable lumbar support, which moves inward and outward.

There are, however, a couple of things I wish Uplift would fix (and may cause me to order another one if/when they do):
    1) I wish I could lock the arms when reclining. Having my arms at a 45 deg angle in full recline can be awkward at times (e.g. Taking a break to watch a movie/show/youtube video). Currently, I just rest my elbows on the ends and fold my hands on my stomach.
    2) Increase the range of motion for arm swiveling, more so inward for proper arm positioning. I find myself constantly adjusting my keyboard.
    3) 4D arms that allow width adjustment (the ability to shift an arm to the left and right). This also makes reclining with a laptop or keyboard in lap much more comfortable,
    4) As others have stated, even cheaper chairs have some form of cushioning on the armrest. The rubberized feel is gentler than straight plastic, but not nearly comfortable enough for a chair at this price.

Overall, it's still a comfortable chair as it's presented and I'm very satisfied with my purhcase. I see it as one of the best chairs on the market that doesn't scream "cubicle" or "stock car".

    Worth the money

Posted by Jself on Apr 1st 2018

I've sat in a gamut of office chairs at home over the years from basic, to adjustable, and even a semi-truck seat bolted onto a wheeled platform. Nothing has come close to the adjustability and comfort of this chair!

I primarily use it for my home computer doing graphic design, but mostly gaming. I also work in an office 5 days a week, so I know ergonomics is important to me for my health as well. The lumbar support with adjustable back is great, can really be dialed in to where you need it.

If I had to improve anything it would be the ability to move the headrest in/out not just up/down, as I find myself not using it. Also, the arm rests while functional are a bit hard on the elbows, but nothing too uncomfortable.

Overall I'm very glad I went with this chair over a "gaming chair" that I have consistently read typically are not good for true ergonomic support.

Pound 4 Pound one of the best

Posted by Pursuit Review on Sep 11th 2017

Fantastic chair for the price. Extremely easy to put together and easy to adjust. If you're used to the click-adjust method of higher end chairs, you'll have to get used to the way these adjust. More tension and slide/lock type of adjustments. I figured it out in 2 minutes. Everything you need to know is in the manual provided. Seat doesn't get too warm and headrest is comfortable when adjusted properly. I will buy this again.

    really love this chair

Posted by Martin on Sep 11th 2017

I replaced a $100 chair with this, so i don't have another expensive chair to compare to, however, this chair is so worth every nickel. everything is adjustable and this bad boy is a much better quality than my prior chair, in every sense of the word. I am over six feet tall and have long sexy legs so it's incredible that this chair raises higher than any desk chair i have ever sat in. that alone made this char worth it, so the rest was gravy.

    pads on arm rests

I really like the chair; however, there is one item missing on it. It needs some pads on the arm rests. It is really comfortable but for my elbows.

    Great Value

Posted by Jake on Apr 8th 2017

So at work I've used a number of different (pricey) ergonomic chairs and, while I won't say that the pursuit blows every one of them out of the water, for the price it is unbeatable. The chair is extremely comfortable for long periods of time and it's a great compliment to my uplift desk for those times when I need a break from standing.

The mesh back is a favorite of mine, it doesn't get hot and it remains comfortable throughout the day. I find that the adjustments on this chair have allowed me to get a near perfect fit even though I'm a pretty tall guy which has been a struggle with other chairs.

I would absolutely recommend this for any home office or business user who want's a great ergonomic chair without breaking the bank. I'm so very glad that I found this product.
