Four-legged friends make the world a better place. What's better than coming home to a familiar furry face? But for most pet owners, it's quite a bit of work (and money) to keep dogs and cats in this state of healthy bliss. That's where Austin area non-profit, Emancipet, steps in. The group is dedicated to helping every dog and cat in Austin receive the basic medical care that they need, with mobile veterinary stations that travel around our city and the neighboring suburbs to offer their services for free or at greatly reduced costs.
Emancipet - Providing Resources to Austin Area Pet Owners Since 1999
Spaying and neutering, microchipping, deworming, heartworm treatment and prevention, flea and tick prevention, and basic vaccinations are all handled by the veterinarians at Emancipet. Thanks to their work, the financial burden is taken off students, low income pet owners, and people who would otherwise not be able to afford the full suite of services. Since 1999, the group has spayed or neutered nearly 325,000 dogs and cats and in 2018 alone cared for more than 100,000 pets. We like to imagine if our pets could talk, they'd say a big thank you to Emancipet (would that be "thank me-ew"?).
Healthy People Make Healthy Pets
Well, since pets can't talk, we'd like to show the group a little appreciation for all of the hard work that they do for so many people and their pets all over Central Texas. We donated 10 of our standing desks, our Bamboo Stand Up Desk with 1" Thick Desktop, to help their employees at their headquarters stay happy and healthy as they help our pets do the same.
