Charitable Giving June Spotlight: Girlstart
Posted by Mandy Spivey on June 22, 2018

Global warming. Third World famine. Finite resources. Our world is forever changing, evolving, and learning. In a world this complicated, it's important to train the younger generations to be able to solve the challenges that arise.

June's charitable giving spotlight is Girlstart, a local Austin non-profit that makes it their mission to educate young girls in STEM studies, equipping them with the mental tools to tackle big problems in the future. Girls are given the opportunity to learn more about science, technology, engineering, and math in after school programs, summer camps, and conferences.

Girlstart - Helping Young Women in Austin Learn Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

Last year, Girlstart provided STEM opportunities for more than 27,400 people, and their numbers continue to grow. Their home base in Austin is where their curriculum, events, and fundraising all happen, so we wanted to make sure they were comfortable and healthy while they do all the work to bring these things together.

This month, UPLIFT Desk donated 10 complete height adjustable desks to the non-profit, including a few of our bamboo and laminate desks, to keep them working happily and healthily. We're excited to be able to give back to the groups that make Austin and the world a better place for all people. We can't wait to see what amazing things Girlstart does for the lives of girls in Central Texas.
