All of our bodies are different.
Seems like one of the most general statements of all time, right? Well, this principle is actually the foundation for the study of ergonomics—that scientific-sounding word that deals with how to make the work environment more comfortable for the person (or people) doing the work.
After you start working at a sit-stand desk, you'll probably notice just what this freedom to adjust does for your body, letting you switch up your posture more than you can at a fixed-height desk. But what about your eyes, neck, and shoulders? If your work occurs in front of a screen, it's important to give yourself some adjustability there, too.
So at the UPLIFT Desk headquarters, we soul searched and asked ourselves some tough questions, like "why am I really using my monitor arm?"
As it turns out, there is more then one reason to start working with a monitor arm, some of which help you while others help you boost your productivity. We tailored our list down to the top three reasons to use a monitor arm setup at your workstation; keep reading to learn more about why it's important to uplift your screens to better viewing positions and some of the lesser-known reasons you'd want to use this desk accessory.
Three Reasons to Use at Monitor Arm at Your Workstation
Your neck and eyes will thank you
If you've ever found yourself straining to see your screens, or find that you develop pain after working in front of your monitors, utilizing monitor arms might just do the trick to get you working at the ergonomically-correct angles.
That means you can also reduce overall strain on your eyes, too, making it less likely that your eyes will deteriorate over time, a long-term negative health effect of computer work. But it's not just your eyes that get some benefits when you use a monitor arm; you'll also get to task in better postures for your body, so you don't feel strain throughout the day. If you have pain in your arms or shoulders, monitor arms are perfect accessories to assist you in working in the right positions for you.
You'll get to reclaim some desktop space
Take a look at your desktop. If you notice that your workspace is getting eaten into by your monitors, uplifting them off your desk and putting them in your own adjustable arm will free up so much space for you to use for other things.
Think of all of the amazing actions you'll be able to take at work when you don't have to set aside a large percentage of it to house your monitors. This gives you extra space for decor and storage for your most-used items (like notebooks, writing utensils, and chargers), right where you need them.
It makes it easy to show coworkers your screen
This is a benefit that piggybacks off the adjustabilty you'll get to play around with when you install a monitor arm at your workstation. Not only do you get to move your screens where you want them, you can also move them in the direction you need when coworkers are at your desk, giving them a better view without needing to overextend their necks to see. It'll make impromptu meetings around your desk much more enjoyable, comfortable, and productive.

The Newest Addition to the UPLIFT Family of Monitor Arms: Range and Zilker
We're excited to unveil the next team of monitor arms that we're adding to the lineup to keep you working better and feeling healthier. It's the Range Monitor Arm and the Zilker Monitor Arm, both available in single and dual models that secure your screens at the correct height and depth for your body.
When you're looking for 360 degree rotation and the freedom to pose your monitors pretty much anywhere they're comfortable, with adjustability higher, lower, side to side, and front to back, look no further than monitor arms from UPLIFT Desk. We took our tried-and-true UPLIFT Monitor Arm and View Monitor Arm and improved upon them in big and little ways, and we think you're going to like what you see.
Starting with rotation control, these refreshed monitor arm designs allow you to restrict the arm's movement, so you don't have your monitor arms bumping into the wall behind your workstation or drifting into walkways. This rotation stop pin can always be removed, too, for full freedom of motion.
Speaking about installation, both the Range and the Zilker also have a quick-release VESA mount, which makes installing and swapping out your monitor easier than ever. After you attach your 75 or 100 mm VESA-compatible screens to the mount, all you have to do is slide it into the arm, with no tools needed. This saves you time (and frustration) from not having to fidget with tools while you hold your monitor.
If you're wondering which arm is right for you, here are a few of the key differences between them. For one, the Range has a slightly heavier weight capacity, securing screens from 4.5 to 17.5 lb on each arm. By contrast, the Zilker comes with 4.4 to 11 lb weight capacity on each arm, a weight capacity that is generous enough to suit most modern monitor weights.
You'll get four finishes on the Zilker, in black, white, gray, and metallic (industrial style), and three choices on the Range in black, white, and gray, so you can match your workstation's finishes for a put-together look.
Of course, if you ever need help deciding which arm you need, we're here for you. Just call, email, or chat us live on our site and let us direct you to the right monitor arm for you, your screens, and your work needs.
