UPLIFT Desk Standing Desk Converter

Desk Converter

Heirloom antique desks. Mandatory desk uniformity. Chronic lack of electrical outlets. There are lots of bad excuses not to take your workspace to the next literal level, but those are just a few examples of genuine barriers to shifting to a sit-stand station. And sadly, if you're unable to switch to our UPLIFT desks, it might feel like grabbing a phone book or three to stack is your only recourse.

Fortunately for you, the UPLIFT Height Adjustable Standing Desk Converter can fit easily into your current workspace and afford you the same ergonomic flexibility of getting to alternate sitting and standing through your day. Easy controls, a comfortably large work surface, and attached keyboard tray make this desk riser a perfect choice for your existing setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is the clamp mount more stable than the freestanding mount?

Both mounts are very stable and whichever one you choose to use depends on the parameters of your current desktop setup. We recommend using the clamp mount because it does allow you to bring the keyboard tray below the level of your desktop. So in that sense, the clamp mount is more stable. But if you go with the freestanding mount, your Standing Desk Converter will be very stable as long as you keep your keyboard tray above the horizontal plane of the desktop.

  2. Does this product ship fully assembled?

Almost! Just attach the keyboard tray to your Standing Desk Converter and you will be standing in no time!

  3. Can I put monitor arms on this?

No, the Standing Desk Converter does not support monitor arms. If you would like a desktop converter that will allow a monitor arm to be attached check out the Standing Desk Converter.

  4. Does the "freestanding" version of the Standing Desk Converter connect to the desk at all?

No, the Standing Desk Converter Riser just sits on top of your desktop. This makes setup a breeze and also allows you to easily move the Standing Desk Converter Clamp.

  5. Where does the keyboard tray rest when the unit is lowered?

When the Standing Desk Converter Riser is lowered the keyboard tray will sit at desktop level. When the Standing Desk Converter Clamp is lowered the keyboard tray will hang 3.2" below the horizontal plane of the desk.

  6. Is the keyboard tray palm rest removable?

Yes, the keyboard tray palm rest can be removed using an Allen wrench.

  7. What is the advantage to getting the Standing Desk Converter vs the Adapt X?

Both desktop converters are pneumatic, but the Standing Desk Converter moves in a swinging motion compared to the up-down motion of the Adapt X. The clamp mount on the Standing Desk Converter also has a smaller footprint than the Adapt X.

  8. Is it possible to have my keyboard tray go lower than the surface of my desk?

If you want your keyboard tray to go lower than the level of your desk, then you must order the clamp mount.

  9. I have a shallow desk, will the Standing Desk Converter still work?

If your desktop is shallower than 23.5" then you must use the Standing Desk Converter Clamp. Otherwise you will not have room on your desktop to support the freestanding base.

  10. Is the keyboard tray adjustable on the UPLIFT Standing Desk Converter?

The keyboard tray will not adjust separately from the Standing Desk Converter. It will only move up and down at a fixed position in combination with your desktop converter. We recommend going with the Clamp because it will allow your keyboard tray to rest lower than the surface of your desktop when the converter is at its lowest position. This will offer you a better ergonomic setup while you are seated at your desk.

  11. How does the Standing Desk Converter lock in place?

Once you move your Standing Desk Converter to the desired height, just release the paddle and your desktop converter will lock in place.

  12. Will the weight of the items I place on top of the Standing Desk Converter affect how quickly it moves?

There is a tension control adjustment on the back of the Standing Desk Converter. To adjust the tension to the weight of your desktop items, turn the large Allen wrench clockwise or counterclockwise.

  13. My monitor is pretty heavy, will the Standing Desk Converter support it?

As long as your monitor and everything else you place on your desktop weighs no more than 28.6 lb, the Standing Desk Converter will be able to safely do its job.

    Excellent Value and Good Ergonomics

Posted by R Warren on Feb 14th 2018

This is similar to my review on Amazon. This is for the Clamp version.
-Keyboard tray in lowest position is below the desk-perfect ergonomically and unique among desk converters (most others go down to level of desk).
-Among the lowest footprints on the desk. Maintains a good amount of value desk real estate.
-In lowest position there are several inches of space between surface of desk and underside of 'main assembly' or desk converter. You can leave a lot of material on your desk in this area (i.e., my mac mini overlaid with cd/dvd recorder). That is, in lowest position the desk converter does not rest flat on desk surface-unlike others.
-Lifting paddle is easy to use and I believe automatically comes shipped on the right side. If you are a lefty, you may need to inform UPLIFT of this to either reposition the paddle to the left side, or provide instructions to move the paddle to the left side.
    -Generally easy assembly.
-NOT MUCH!! The only thing I can think of is the assembly instructions. For perfect positioning of the lifting main assembly onto the clamp, you might need to loosen the screws on the angled brace. This is not a show stopper, however.

Give Your Back a Break and Improve Productivity!

Posted by Rob A. on Apr 7th 2017

I had been considering an UpLift Desk for a long while, but just couldn't budget it. Then I got an email for UpLift Desk Adapt. After watching the video, I was sold. It came within a couple of days in a 60 pound well protected box. Installing it was a snap. I got the clamp option because I wanted my keyboard below desk level for sitting. It felt weird standing at first, but I adjusted quickly. I also found that my typing was better standing up because my palms were no longer resting on the wrist rest. I positioned the UpLift so that my hands are in the waterfall position. It was amazing just how comfortable it is and how much less strain it is to type. My accuracy naturally went up.

My neck thanks you. My back thanks you. My wallet thanks you. Perfect design that can make any desk adaptable to any working position. Ordered the UpLift Motion Stool today so I can perch! :D

    My back thanks you!

Posted by ZoeOB on Mar 18th 2017

After becoming a full-time telecommuter it was not unusual to spend 2-3 hours sitting behind my computer. Even though I set an alarm to get up every hour, it wasn't working quite right and my back really ached at the end of the day. I wanted to try a standing desk but already had one in my home office and didn't have much space left for more furniture. After reading the reviews and watching the video, this product looked like the perfect solution. Assembly was easy and no extra tools were required. I am now happily working and standing without fatigue, improving my posture with proper ergonomic form, and didn't have to spend a tremendous amount of money. I am recommending this to all of my colleagues as well.

    Highly recommended

Posted by Unknown on Feb 8th 2017

I have the freestand desk, and have been using it for about a month now. I find that I'm standing most of my day. It's very comfortable and sturdy. However, it does shake a little bit when my wrists are heavy while typing, or if I'm typing hard. But it's definitely not a big deal - and would still highly recommend this desk. The platform for the monitor has enough room for my phone and papers. So everything I need is at the lifted height. Very nice product.

    I Love this desk!

Posted by Ann on Feb 8th 2017

This addition to my desk makes it easy to stand and work for most of my day, yet allows me the flexibility to sit for a meeting or when I feel like it. It is very comfortable and I have no problems with my wrist as I use the mouse. Height adjustment is quick and easy if another employee needs to step in and use my computer. I am very happy with the uplift desk! Thank You

    Great product

Posted by stever on Dec 22nd 2016

I have been happy with the uplift desk I purchased. I bought the clamp version and as expected this unit feels very sturdy to work on. The unit is not difficult to put together and is made of what feels like quality components. I use the keyboard tray for my mouse pad which has been fine for me. I bought my unit due to excessive discomfort in sitting long periods of time. I've also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Standing has noticeably improved my condition.

    This desk is awesome!

Posted by PJ on Dec 7th 2016

This desk does everything it says it does. It is a fantastic lower-cost alternative to an electric desk (important since I bought this for myself at work). It was easy to assemble at set up. I was up and running in 30 minutes. The only thing I would improve upon is making the keyboard tray adjustable. That would make this a six star product. Great job Uplift team!

    Fantastic Product

Posted by Mike on Mar 22nd 2016

I ordered my new desk over the phone through a Human Solutions sales rep. She was very helpful and within 3 days I received my desk. It took about 40 minutes to assemble because the inset nuts are not exactly aligned properly. However, with a little patience and some force I was able to get the assembling screws threaded without too much problem. At work I find myself standing & sitting throughout the day and this is a nice piece of equipment. The adjustment knob allows for a light touch to raise or lower the desk. The price is very affordable. The finish and quality seems like they should last for quite a few years. I highly recommend this for anyone that does a lot of administrative type work.

    I'm All Converted!

Posted by Seth on Mar 7th 2016

I have an injury from a car accident a few months ago and my doctor suggested I get a standing desk to take some of the strain off of my neck and back. Replacing my whole desk setup was kind of out of my budget after medical bulls so I thought I would try this. Assembly was pretty straightforward. Once I got it set up it worked like a charm. The keyboard platform can position a little lower than my desk which is actually a pretty nice feeling. When I need to stand up, I just push the switch on the side and lift. My back's happy, I'm happy, and best of all my wallet is happy!
