Room to Learn: Our Donation to Murchison Middle School
Located in Northwest Austin, Murchison Middle School has been part of the community since 1967. For generations, it has been a place where students learn, grow, and discover who they are. While the school has a long and proud history in Austin ISD, one area of campus truly shows what community and inclusion look like in action: the Special Education Department.
Who Murchison Serves
Murchison Middle School serves students from different backgrounds, and its Special Education Department plays an important role in supporting that diversity. This team works with students needing extra support through 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
The teachers here do more than teach lessons. They speak up for their students, make sure they're included, and work hard to create a space where everyone feels welcome. No matter a student's learning style, pace, or physical needs, the goal is the same: give every student the chance to be part of the Matador community.
Our donation to Murchison Middle School
Teaching special education takes a lot of energy, flexibility, and heart. Through our personal connections with staff at Murchison, we've seen firsthand how much care these teachers bring into their classrooms every single day.
That's why UPLIFT Desk donated five height-adjustable desks and ergonomic accessories to the department. When a desk can move as quickly as a lesson plan does, it gives teachers and students the freedom to adjust throughout the day. These desks help remove physical barriers, making it easier to focus on learning.
Community impact and beyond
This donation is our small way of saying thank you to a department that truly loves what they do. By offering tools that adjust to each individual, UPLIFT Desk hopes to support the inclusive environment Murchison Middle School has built with so much care.
For teachers, ergonomic desks help reduce strain and make it easier to stay active throughout the day. For students, having a workspace that feels comfortable and supportive can make a big difference in their engagement, confidence, and independence.
